Today, we looked at the different genres of writing and their characteristics (https://www.ereadingworksheets.com/genre/) .  In mathematics, we learned about exponents, perfect squares, and square roots (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zUmvpkhvW8 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-Sfvry_h3Q).  In Science, we learned about food chains, food webs, and the roles of the organisms in them(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cd1M9xD482s).

In today's class, we reviewed genres and students selected a book for independent reading. Students should be leaving their books with me at school. In mathematics, we practiced B E DM AS and the order of operations. In Health, students looked up information about health disorders and how they can be caused by food choices or prevented by healthier choices.

We identified the genres of our silent reading books and posted introductions to them for our classmates in Edsby.  In mathematics, we practiced the order of operations and played a Kahoot (https://create.kahoot.it/share/order-of-operations/df77030c-62d1-4faf-a7e0-b81ba0b4661c) for review at the end of class.

Students focused on independent reading journals, reviewing proper sentence structure, and began looking at how to set up paragraphs.  In mathematics, we concentrated on reviewing B E DM AS once again (Kahoot is useful for review).  In Science, we started looking at food pyramids (numbers and biomass) and how energy decreases as it moves up the pyramid.
