Lesson Plans for Nov. 18, 2020

posted Oct 28, 2020, 4:40 PM by Mr. Ingram   [ updated Nov 19, 2020, 5:41 AM ]
* I ask all students to put devices on the desk at the front of the room during class time.

  November 18, 2020                                                                    DAY 2
     Yard Duty Outside/Inside 8:30 - 8:50
7C enters the school at 8:35 (to lockers; bring their lunch to class)
8:50 - 9:40   7C LANGUAGE ARTS (Room 123)
To start the day, please have students do silent reading at their desks.
If they finish a book, please have them do a final entry in Biblionasium and place they book at the fornt by the Elmo.  They can then grab a new book from the tubs at the back of the classroom.

If students seem disengaged, you could share this story with them (I read it aloud).

9:40 - 10:30  7C LANGUAGE ARTS (Room 123)
* Borrow some laptops form Ms. Albo next door if possible ... we don't have enough for everyone.

Students need to have their story planned out on the sheet (see a few posts below this one) before attempting to do anything in Scratch.
The template I have created can be found here:  https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/444756783

This is a mark for Language - so they should pay attention to using full sentences, capitalization, punctuation, and a meaningful and coherent story (does it make sense?).
When everything is finished, they'll have 8 mini stories of 3 pages each (but each page is only a few sentences).

HOW they tell their story is more important than programming in Scratch!  A flashy presentation that doesn't have substance isn't what we are looking for.
7C Heads outside (or lockers then outside) at 10:25
10:30 - 10:50    RECESS
7C Heads  inside at 10:55
10:50 - 11:40

           PREP TIME

11:40 - 12:30  7C MATHEMATICS (Room 123)
Please hand out the corrections for 8.2 to the class and have them put in everyone's red duotang.
Students did not get to finish worksheet 8.3 yesterday ....
Have them watch this video first:
Worksheet 8.3 has been photocopied and is on my desk.  I recommend doing a few questions with the class under the Elmo and then have them try others independently.
7C Starts lunch at 12:25 and heads outside at 12:50

12:30 - 1:10     LUNCH
7C Heads inside at 1:15 (locker only if needed)
1:10 - 2:00   7C PHYS. ED.  (Outside or Gym 1)
Teachers choice :)
This is in the the big gym.  If you need equipment the keys are by the phone (beside the fridge) in the common room.  They open the equipment room in the small gym.

7C Heads to their lockers at 2:05 and get all their stuff for home time
2:00 - 2:10    BREAK
2:10 - 3:00  7C GEOGRAPHY (Room 123)
Go through the following review booklet with the class - some should have looked it over on Monday already.
Booklet is attached below.  It doesn't have to be printed yet; I recommend going through it on the Laptop connected to the projector.

For the last part of class, have students check out my post in Edsby for Geography; they have to find one good YouTube video for their topic and reply to my message online.
